QUICKSTART GUIDE
PROJECT WEB COLLABORATION

Logging in

  1. Obtain user name and password from project site administrator or project manager
  2. Establish an Internet connection
  3. Type in the Internet address https://www.powereng.com/pwc/ and press ENTER
  4. At the login screen, enter the user name and password provided to you by the administrator

NOTE: You have only ONE PWC password for ALL projects. You do not need a new password for each new project. If you forget your user name and password, contact your site administrator, or the PWC Admins at webmaster1@powereng.com . Access cannot be granted without PWC Project Owner approval.

Viewing a file

  1. Enter the site (see above)
  2. Navigate to the folder that contains the document you wish to view
  3. Highlight the file you wish to view by clicking on it once
  4. Click the VIEW FILE button

NOTE: If you do not have the program necessary to view the file, you can elect to download a viewer for most types of files from the link in the bottom right window (you may have to scroll down to see it).

Creating a subfolder – requires permission

  1. Enter the site (see above)
  2. Navigate to the project or project folder where you wish to create the folder
  3. Highlight the folder name
  4. Click the CREATE SUBFOLDER button
  5. Type in the folder name
  6. Click the type of folder (e.g., document, notes)
  7. Check the permissions you wish to assign to the folder
  8. Type any comments needed
  9. Click SAVE

Placing a document on a PWC site (upload) – requires permission

  1. Enter the site (see above)
  2. Navigate to the folder you wish to upload the file into
  3. Click the UPLOAD button
  4. BROWSE to the drive and file to be uploaded
  5. Click UPLOAD

Getting a document from a PWC site (download)

Option A: Download to network

  1. Enter the site (see above)
  2. Navigate to the folder that contains the file
  3. Highlight the file by clicking once on its name
  4. Click the DOWNLOAD FILE button
  5. In the dialog box, click "Save this file to disk." Do not use the option to "Open this file."

Option B: Checking out a file – requires permission

  1. Enter the site (see above)
  2. Navigate to the folder that contains the file
  3. Highlight the file by clicking once on its name
  4. Click the CHECK OUT FILE button
  5. Click the OK – CHECK OUT FILE button
  6. In the file download dialog box, click "Save this file to disk."

NOTE: DO NOT select "Open this file." Once the file is saved on your hard drive or the network, you can open it with the appropriate application.

Checking in a Document

  1. Enter the site (see above)
  2. Navigate to the folder from which you checked out the file
  3. Highlight the file by clicking once on its name
  4. Click the CHECK IN FILE button
  5. Browse to the file (it must have the same name as the original)
  6. Highlight the file to be checked in
  7. Click OK
  8. Click the CHECK IN FILE button
